History

                 Amber was once the capital of princely Jaipur state, and the fort the residence of its Rajputrulers. Maharajah Man Singh I, who led Mughal Emperor Akbar's army, commenced its construction in 1592 on the remains of an 11th-century fort. Successive rulers added to Amber Fort before moving the capital to Jaipur in 1727. The fort was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013, as part of a group of six hill forts in Rajasthan. Its architecture is a noteworthy fusion of Rajput (Hindu) and Mughal (Islamic) styles.

What are the key industries of Rajasthan?

Rajasthan is home to several key industries which are engaged in production of goods like cotton cloth. cotton yarn, cement, sugar, urea, zinc ingots, ball bearings, edible oils, salt, copper cathodes etc. All of these Industries, do not belong only to large scale Units but may also belong to Small or medium scale units but they play a key role in economy of Rajasthan in terms of Revenue, employment etc. Cement 

• Rajasthan has 24 major cement plants, having a total capacity of 55 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). It is the largest cement producing state in India. 

• The state has about 17% share in cement grade limestone reserves of India. Gypsum is also available in the state but coal is imported from outside the state.

2.Mining and minerals

• Around 79 varieties of minerals are available in the state and 57 minerals are produced on a commercial scale. 
• Some of the important minerals found in the state are asbestos (amphibole), barytes, feldspar, fire clay, fluorspar , iron ore (magnetite and hematite), ochre, pyrite, silver, phosphate fluoride, wollastonite, rock phosphate, copper, lead-zinc, gypsum, clay, granite, marble, sandstone, dolomite, calcite, emeralds and garnets.
